What began as a 16-year journey rooted in love, family, and a deep connection to the land has grown into a working farm and a multi-venue property, now home to both Barn Swallow Fields and The Gathering House, nestled across 140 acres of rolling Wellington County countryside.
Our story is a family story. In 2022, the Thatcher family began expanding the farm’s legacy with the creation of its first venue, thoughtfully weaving together Dana’s eye for vintage charm with Adam’s appreciation for craftsmanship and nature. Even as Barn Swallow Fields came to life, our agricultural roots remained at the heart of everything we do. We continue to raise cattle, grow crops and care for the land, all while welcoming couples and guests to celebrate life’s most meaningful moments within it.
Both venues carry a heartbeat all their own, born from a love of people, food, and the simple joy of gathering. Dana has always been drawn to the warmth of shared moments, and after nearly two decades of cultivating food for our community, creating a place where people could come together felt like a natural and heartfelt next step. Today, that vision is beautifully supported through a cultivated partnership with two exceptional culinary companies, offering thoughtfully curated food and beverage packages designed to complement each celebration with ease, elegance, and intention. Here, guests are greeted with sweeping landscapes, considered culinary experiences, and the gentle serenity that only the countryside can offer.

For larger celebrations with guest counts of up to 140 and beyond, Barn Swallow Fields offers an expansive countryside backdrop, where open skies, sweeping views, and barn-inspired architecture come together to create a truly
unforgettable wedding and event experience.
When booking Barn Swallow Fields, couples also have the opportunity to enhance their day with access to The Gathering House as a beautifully appointed getting ready space for either the bride or groom, offering a calm and elegant retreat before the celebration begins. Both venues are complete wedding destinations in their own right, each featuring dedicated ceremony spaces, outdoor bar settings, dining areas with tables and chairs, and fully appointed indoor washroom facilities, ensuring comfort and ease
throughout your entire day.

At Thatcher Farms, our Open Doors events are a wonderful opportunity to experience our venues in person and spend a little time exploring everything the property has to offer. Whether you’re newly engaged and searching for the perfect place to celebrate, planning a private gathering, or simply interested in learning more about Barn Swallow Fields or The Gathering House, we invite you to come wander the spaces, take in the countryside, and imagine what your own event could look like here. Our team will be on site to welcome you, answer questions, and help you get to know our venues in a relaxed and inviting way.For our booked couples and event hosts, Open Doors are also an opportunity to return to the property throughout the planning process.
